the scott trust -> scott trust foundation
The Guardian Foundation is the Scott Trust's overseas training arm, supporting the creation and running of editorially independent newspapers. Its initial focus was on eastern Europe; today the Foundation is expanding its reach across the Middle East and Africa.

The Foundation supports long-term projects, such as the Mail and Guardian's training scheme for young journalists in Johannesburg. It is also building on its partnership with the BBC World Service Trust to develop interactive courses on newspaper journalism. This is currently developing in sites from Russia and Sri Lanka to the Gulf States and Lebanon.

Individual journalists from overseas are also welcomed for stays in Britain on Guardian Media Group newspapers, and to seminars covering subjects such as climate change or investigative reporting.
