The Scott Trust
‘A sense of duty to the reader and the community’ is one of the Scott Trust values, and this responsibility is as strongly felt today as it was when CP Scott first set it down in 1921. Another subsidiary aim of the Trust is to promote liberal journalism and freedom of the press, both in the UK and overseas.

These responsibilities are discharged through the Scott Trust Foundation, a registered charity (number 1027893) with three branches: the Newsroom Archive and Visitor Centre, the Guardian Foundation and the Scott Trust Charitable Fund.

  • The Newsroom runs a programme of free education workshops and other events.
  • The Guardian Foundation trains journalists and supports the creation of independent newspapers overseas.
  • The Scott Trust Charitable Fund supports projects associated with independent journalism, journalistic ethics, media literacy and journalism training.
